Do dogs go to Heaven? Cowboy poet Baxter Black loses a friend.
.
Sorry if this seems like a dupe, but I didn't want THIS to get
buried in the "Do animals have a soul" thread.
.
.
.
Baxter Black, certainly the most well-known cowboy poet around
(and I think the best). His YouTube stuff -- meh -- not so hot...
but his poetry on his early CD's was incredible.
.
.
.
He's an actual cowboy., I sat and drank and talked with an old
cowboy here in Tucson and I was in absolute AWE of the man
simply because he had once worked a temporary cowboy job
with Baxter.
.
.
.
My most excellent poetry professor told us there was only one rule
in his classes:
.
NO... DEAD... DOG... POEMS!!!!!!!! EVER!!!!!!!!!
.
He said even the professional poets get over-maudlin and sucky
when it comes to an ode to their dear departed doggie.
.
.
.
Baxter Black proves him wrong. I'm pretty sure he's close to crying
at the end... but, true to his dual professions of poet AND cowboy...
he got the job done.

2. I was an agnostic for most of my 'conscious' life...
.
.
.
...and I'm leaning more and more towards being an atheist...
.
.
.
...but since there is no way to PROVE a negative, your simple
statement -- though very dramatic -- certainly causes me to
believe that you speak with the same absolute 'Leap of Faith'
certainty as any fundie out there.
.
Course... I'm just expressing an opinion.
.
.
.
As you were.
.
.
.
And this post was not about heaven yes/heaven no... it's about
the profound loss felt by a man here on Earth.
.
I hope that doesn't get lost in dogmatic (pun FULLY intended) debate.
.
I'm sure you'll have plenty of opportunities for that along the way.
.

7. That' what human science days
But doggie logic says there is an afterlife with abundant chewy toys

Which do you believe?

We should listen to both sides - human science and doggie logic

"Fair and balanced"

May end up being part of a new carbon based life form in a new solar system :)
