Anybody actually like Toby's "American Soldier"?
Edited on Fri Mar-26-04 05:21 PM by shekina
I freaking can't stand Toby Keith or his crappy music. I happen to think his "American Soldier" song is nothing more than right-wing propaganda that plays to our emotions. Our fine men and women of the armed forces don't need Toby Keith to remind us of how great how they are

Sorry, just had to get that rant out.

5. I have harsh and negative feelings/views towards......
the entire Country "Music" establishment. There are a few good people especially the late Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson, but as a whole they are nothing more than a bunch of Bush loving Reich Wingers. Most Country stations "whore" themselves for the Shrub.

Besides, it was the Rock community that rushed to the Dixie Chicks defense last year! 99% of Country said nothing or supported Herr Bush. Some Country "Artists" such as Satan's son Travis (mofo) Tritt supported the boycott!

Country "Music" IS Hate Music!!!!

8. Johnny Cash was da man
Seriously, I do not hold any musician more highly than I do Johnny Cash. And from what I hear, he was a liberal. I swear to god, if I hear anybody talk bad about the man in black around me I will break their jaw.

13. From what you hear about The Man in Black? good grief.
His song, Man in Black is a liberal manifesto. From your religion post the other day, i'm sure you'll find interest in there too:

Man In Black Lyrics

Well, you wonder why I always dress in black,
Why you never see bright colors on my back,
And why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone.
Well, there's a reason for the things that I have on.

I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down,
Livin' in the hopeless, hungry side of town,
I wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime,
But is there because he's a victim of the times.

I wear the black for those who never read,
Or listened to the words that Jesus said,
About the road to happiness through love and charity,
Why, you'd think He's talking straight to you and me.

Well, we're doin' mighty fine, I do suppose,
In our streak of lightnin' cars and fancy clothes,
But just so we're reminded of the ones who are held back,
Up front there ought 'a be a Man In Black.

I wear it for the sick and lonely old,
For the reckless ones whose bad trip left them cold,
I wear the black in mournin' for the lives that could have been,
Each week we lose a hundred fine young men.

And, I wear it for the thousands who have died,
Believin' that the Lord was on their side,
I wear it for another hundred thousand who have died,
Believin' that we all were on their side.

Well, there's things that never will be right I know,
And things need changin' everywhere you go,
But 'til we start to make a move to make a few things right,
You'll never see me wear a suit of white.

Ah, I'd love to wear a rainbow every day,
And tell the world that everything's OK,
But I'll try to carry off a little darkness on my back,
'Till things are brighter, I'm the Man In Black.

15. Hey I know
Just don't remember him ever coming right out and saying he was a lefty. But these lyrics are absolutely awesome. Johnny Cash was a true liberal and a true Christian, an example for everyone.

R.I.P. Johnny

14. Johnny
I just watched his video of Hurt on a CD I have right before I came here. I have some great documentaries of the man.
I don't quite think Johnny was too liberal. He did visit with Nixon, Carter, Reagan, and Clinton. June's cousin is Jimmy Carter. He didn't have a bad word to say about any of them though. He was definitely a classy rebel.

A lot of the song can pertain to fire\rescue\EMS. I think a lot about that aspect when I am flipping stations and catch it on...
