we had one for a while, growing up but we had to get rid of him unfortunately...

28. Thank you all for your kind words. Winnie was a Sheltie and a few months over 15

years old. My wife and I's first 'baby'. My first daughter came a year later.

Having to tell the kids when they came home from school was devastating. :(

My black lab, Schatzi, woke me this morning because she knew something was wrong. I won't go into details, but it was clear that Winnie would not make it through this latest setback. I called my wife and she came home. We wrapped her in a sheet, bundled her like a baby and comforted her until the Vet was able to come into the office. We gave her love and tried to make her as comfortable as possible and spent our last 45 minutes together before we made our way to the office.

Tears were shed, and still being shed in the house.

It's been a sad day.

45. Fifteen years

The three I've lost have made it to 14 or almost 14. You were so lucky to have had her for so long. Shelties are just such special dogs. And she was gorgeous.
