2. I don't see how that's possible
Slightly off topic - nothing depresses me more than thinking about The Funboy 3. Just what the fuck were they thinking?

5. bananarama and funboy 3 were creations of McLauren, iirc
so they were connected in that way.

too bad I didn't keep all my old copies of The Face magazine.

12. I don't think McLauren had much to do with The Fun Boy 3.
In their case, they might have benefited from his help. God, how could you go from The Specials to, to, to... THAT?!

20. They had some co-releases ...

Don't ask me how or why I know this, but they have several top-40 hits together in the Netherlands.

4. Some of them were in some other groups, but I don't know much about
Funboy3...
They were called The Nipple Erectors or something else famous like that...
Their biggest song that I recall was a lame remake of
"Venus" with'80's dance drums...

11. The Nipple Erectors were (loosely) the precursor to The Pogues
The Specials were the precursor to The Fun Boy 3.

18. The Pogues are pretty amazing
A seriously traditional Irish band, from England, in a time when 2 guys on synthesizers was considered a band. If you like real instruments, and Irish music, you'll love The Pogues.

The Nips (Nipple Erectors) are meh.

I love The Specials.

Fun Boy 3 are forgettable.

8. Ah, fun boy 3 came from the Specials...and did some work with bananarama.
wikipedia.org:

They were also credited with helping launch the career in 1982 of Bananarama, whom Hall first saw in The Face magazine. The three women provided credited chorus vocals on the hit "T'ain't What You Do (It's the Way That You Do It)"; the Fun Boy Three later sang on the Bananarama song "Really Saying Something".

17. Maybe "the most charted hit songs" GLOBALLY, but...
...in the U.S., other than "Cruel Summer" and their half-assed, going-through-the-motions cover of "Venus," did they really have that much success?
