Mississippi tornado...one miracle, one tragedy.
I heard two remarkable stories today that made me think a lot about how easily we are saved or lost, and how precious life is. I have a lot of relatives in Yazoo City and environs. My cousin's house is fine--the houses on either side of her (I admit I don't know how close) were destroyed. She was incredibly lucky. My sister's friend, whom she hadn't seen in a long time and who had fallen on hard times, was found, dead, lying across her three children, all of whom are critical.

Death is capricious as a child. As someone here recently reminded me, Warren Zevon put it well: Enjoy every sandwich.

1. Yes the Yazoo City story is very sad...
that area is not the most prosperous part of the state. Lots of people there struggle daily. Makes one wonder whether it was God's wrath on Haley Barbour, since he showed up in town about the time the tornado hit.

2. No, it isn't a properous town, but it does have a lot to offer.
I have a few friends there. It is tragic. 3 children are among the dead.

3. I am sorry to read this sad news, nolabear.
I have a big fear of tornadoes. Living in NY State, I rarely have to worry, but there are occasionally killer tornadoes, even up here.

Enjoy every sandwich.

5. How terrible.
That's awful about your sister's friends. I hope the kids will be ok.

Good news about your cousin, though. Hope they're doing ok.
