The Old Tree
I once posted a series of photos called Fog around the lake here in the Lounge, back in November 2005. The first picture, titled The Old Tree, later went on to win the photo contest, no doubt all the honors should be attributed the motive rather than the photographer ;-)

Now the tree is no more. I don't know what happened to it, but this picture will serve as an illustration to the change in my life, no matter which dimension you choose to put this in.

The last picture is from October 2009. Sad :-(

2. Nice photos. Both of them. And a good story too.
I don't see it as 'the tree is no more', but rather it has changed it's shape and form.

Just like people do as they age and die. And all other things on earth as well. Even rock and steel.

Everything is temporal and transitory is what I get from these two photos.

Thanks.

3. Oh man...
Sorry the tree is gone. That is part of nature, too, I guess... always changing.

Good to see you around. I love your photos & hope you'll post more!! :hi:

Yeah, maybe everything changes, and the tree was leaning more and more anyway.

I found some of the other trees in that series, and they were still standing :-)

2005:

This is the tree eqivalent og Old Grumphy. I've dubbed it Elmer. Misfortune? Grow another branch.
In 2009 it still is alive and, yeah maybe not kicking, but at least standing ;-)

9. Thanks, Call Me Wesley
I really had a lot of affection for that tree, it was a landmark.

Here's a little homage to it, this is a poem I wrote in 2003:

I'm not a poet so this is the only poem I've ever written, maybe mostly for myself.
