UPDATE! Got called back for a second interview at Procter and Gamble!!
I can't believe it!!

Guy said my skill set was perfect and that my personality was a big plus.

I talked to him on the phone from my hotel room for about a half an hour this morning, and I go in for another interview on Monday morning.

Fingers crossed!

1. Apparently your product line expansion didn't bother them much
Marijuana scented Febreze. I thought the purpose of Febreze was to get the scent of dope smoke OUT of your furniture.

4. They need you for their new "Soylent" line of products.
Watch your back.

Just sayin'.

Best of luck.

5. My first interview was a panel interview
I was grilled. There was no way anyone could bluff their way through an interview like that. They asked questions about minutiae related to obscure institutional knowledge. The kind of things you know only if you've done it for years. I'm one of those institutional memory carriers so they wanted me.

The second 'interview' was with the Director and it was basically her asking the same questions only in a skimming way, hitting only the highlights in a machine gun rat-tat-tat way. At one point I wanted to get sarcastic and ask her if she had even read the detailed responses I had given to these questions previously, but instead I smiled a tiny bit and put on my 'I'm totally interested in every word that comes out of your mouth' mask.

At the end I found out what the interview was really about. She told me she would be micromanaging me and that if she didn't like what I did she would definitely let me go. In other words she pissed on me to show me I was her property. They always give themselves away.

6. Excellent!
That was a smart move switching phone numbers with the more experienced applicant.
:woohoo:

7. congrats!
the last interview I did with a hiring committee included someone on there who didn't know that my profession was considered a profession with training that others don't have.

seriously.

but the position dealt with cross-discipline areas so... whatever.

and then they hired the one person who was not a professional from the field. then the position came open just a couple of months later, then I reapplied and had another couple of rounds of interviews. then got the news the position is frozen.

all to say...

it's nice to hear GOOD NEWS!!

I'm glad they got your humor, even if they are a front for the Satanist church. :)

9. So they actually loved the marijuana-scented Febreze idea? Fabulous.
I have to learn not to believe everything I read on DU.
It's wonderful news, Lefty, my fingers are crossed for you too.

10. Good luck, Lefty!
I take back what I said about P&G. Hope you get the job. If they are looking for a creative writer, you are the best candidate!

Or at least it was when I was there.
Best of luck to you.

13. Don't forget to ask your interviewer to pull your finger at the end of the session.

That's like a secret Masonic handshake with those business types.

Do that, and you're in.

14. Remember to avoid all personal hygiene that day and point out that you don't use P&G products.
That always goes over well.
