3. My dear texanwitch!
See? I told you you could do it!

You might want to resize it, though...

If you used photobucket, just click on the picture, and that will take you to another page where you can fix that.

Very nice!

:hi:

10. This one maybe one of last year's babies from the pair that live in the area.
We have some woods nearby, so we have a lot of birds.

I don't know if you saw thes before, but here's a few shots I took of an Osprey nesting pair.

15.  Great hawk photo, texanwitch!
Do you know if it is a Cooper's hawk? I tried to find a similar photo on the web, and that seemed closest.
The window I look out when I'm at my kitchen sink is at the level of a bare horizontal branch of a black walnut tree about eight feet away. I've seen scrub jays cleaning their beaks and nudging acorns into crevices in the old tree, sparrows and other small birds catching bugs there, a flicker hopping up the trunk pecking at bugs, hunmmingbirds swooping by to the feeder. It's been a pretty good bird watching spot, but one of the best sightings was a few months ago when I looked up to see a hawk landing on the branch, facing me. As soon as it saw me it took off, but it was so cool to see it so close.

22. I'm almost positive it's a red-tail....
Red-tails are distributed from Canada down to Panama and extremely common around here, and a lot of them from the Midwest and Canada winter in Texas. The yellow feet and spotted band around the white belly are the signatures marks of most red-tails.

They are extraordinary birds, and I used to see them sitting every couple of hundred feet on treetops along I78 in New Jersey. Not quite as common out here, but still quite a few breeding pairs around-- our most common raptor.

Great pictures.
