Question for Cat Owners...
This may sound very stupid but maybe all cats do this. Every time I sit down at my desk in my home office and start using my computer, my cat literally jumps onto the desk and runs back in forth in front of the computer screen and then sits down between the keyboard and the screen--where she is now. Does anyone else' cat do this? Why do you all think she does this? Thanks

1. Because the screen is bright, and moves, and is very interesting. And so are you.

3. Good answer!
I'd add because she's annoyed that you're paying attention to something other than her, just like my cat who has been systematically going around my office knocking things off of shelves because I'm not playing with him now and he's bored.

2. My cat does this too.
I think it's 'cause she wants attention - she's always putting herself between me and whatever I'm looking at. She doesn't get why I spend so much time staring at this bright box thingy when I could be staring at the cutest kitty ever.

5. My cats do the same thing.
If I'm working on my computer, the sit between me and the keyboard. If I'm reading a book or a magazine, they will climb in my lap in front of what I'm reading. If I'm lying on the couch watching TV, they will sit on my chest so I can't see.

It's all a ploy for attention and to share space with you. But when they're being cuddly and sweet, who could say no to that? :hi:

4. PipCat does this
Whines and fusses if you try and mover her. One time, she actually managed to shut down the computer by giving it the three paw pad salute.

6. Because she wants you to pay attention to her!
Duh.

Mine ignore the hell out of me until I turn the computer on. :eyes:

7. Because you're paying attention to the glowing, clicky thing and NOT HER!!!
Get your priorities straight, young man!

8. Soon your cat will start typing. Mine occasionally changes my desktop. He's posted at the DU.
You have a cat who knows exactly how to get your attention.

9. Both of ours do it
but they stand between me and the keyboard so I can't type OR see the monitor. They just want attention. That's all.

You're lucky if she settles in between the keyboard and the monitor, if you can still see the monitor that is.

10. Most cats will get between your eyes and a book or newspaper, given the chance
They have this serious commitment to stamping out human eyestrain. And they want us to pay attention to critters with meat on their bones, not the written word. We will starve if they don't get us chasing squirrels and mice. They know this and try to keep our focus off stupid things so we will learn to hunt.

Don't forget to thank them. Teaching us is hard work. We're sorta slow.
