1. NOooooo
Maybe it'll stream later...

It's pretty grand, for sure...
We are, also, enjoying Doctor Who from Netflix...we are on Season 3, now.

15. Last week's Blood and Sand had really bloody fight scenes.
The hero was fighting in the pits, and it was the pits.

Captain Jack, Rose, Sarah Jane Smith, all the companions had their quirks...

My favorite was Ace:

Always wanted to be a "Doctor Who girl." :loveya:

19. Netflix has the older Dr. Who shows on instant watch.
I will get to them this year.

My first Dr. Who was Tom Baker, I think that was his name.

Season 5 is on DVD.

26. Le Sigh! Tom Baker! He's awesome!
I love all the Doctors. So wise, so witty, and kind. My first Doctor was Sylvester McCoy with Ace. His particular quirk was playing the spoons when he was happy.

PBS used to play it at 12 a.m. on Sunday mornings.

27. Our local NBC Channel had Dr. Who on at midnight on Friday or Saturday night.
This would have been in the early to mid 70's.

30. I only started watching it for real around 2002 when I was 18.
Before then, I had only seen it when I was like 7 and it scared me. I can't believe it is supposed to be a "children's show!"

31. I was surprised to hear that the show was a kid's show.
Some of the monsters would scare children.

My first episode to see was when the guy turned into a giant plant.

32. Yes, scary things happen like that all the time.
People turn into aliens and it's meant to be horrific.

"I am a human dalek!"

HELP! I know he turned out to be more sensitive than the other dalek, but he was scary looking.

35. The cybermen shows were scary.
The people would be taken away and turned into cybermen screaming.

36. Those were really scary because of the holocaust overtones.
The people were being marched into the camps to be deleted. That's a common theme for Doctor Who since it began. The original writers of the first shows had survived World War II. I don't know if you've seen the episode "End Of Time" where the Master turns all the humans into exact replicas of himself and then pronounces, "There is no more human race. Just the Master Race!" ARRRRRRGH! Help, DOCTOR!

20. I wish Netflix offered a Stream Only option for like $6 bucks a month or something
Edited on Fri Feb-19-10 11:54 PM by rcrush
I hardly ever rent a physical dvd anymore. The $9 I pay now a month is ok but I'd like to pay less for just streaming since I dont really use the DVD option.

Edit: Apparently they do offer a stream only option but its only for the STARZ channel. Even a more limited library than their regular online library.

21. $9 a month is still an amazing bargain...
especially as they seem to be adding a LOT of interesting titles, new and old. like they recently added a ton of Criterion Collection titles -- of course, you don't get the commentary or extras with the streaming.

Plus new releases seem to be streaming sooner, too.

22. I would love to have that option.
I had netflix years ago and hated to deal with the dvds.

I would love the option of no dvds, just instant watch.

It only takes a few days for the dvd to come but I have to mail the dvd back.

23. I used to lose DVD's a lot
Back when I had money I would get 6 dvds out at a time because I wanted to rent box sets. And a few times a DVD gets "lost" in the mail and I have to convince Netflix that I'm not stealing them.

Also sometimes I would forget about the DVD for a month or two and then I cant remember where I put it and cant send it back.

I put the dvd in my backpack and forgot about it.

I always afraid the dvd will get lost in the mail.

That is why I have the one dvd at a time.

28. I lost like 5 dvds in the mail
I eventually just put my account on hold for a year and then just used the streaming option but I still have to get a DVD now. I havent had the problem with the missing DVD's lately but for a while there I was sure the mail man was stealing my netflix.
