i *heart* sphynxes, but i've never seen one that actually has some fur! usually they have some peach fuzz all over but never any actual fur in on specific place. how bizarre!

eta: did some research. he's not a sphynx, but he has some kind of genetic mutation. his name is "ugly bat boy".

5. Guilt is the reason I will never have another cat.

I do have a cat, and have had dogs for about ten years, and it is very difficult because when I was a kid, we let our cats go outside, but I have been lectured that it is dangerous to let a cat outside, and I just see how my cat is so bored, so unstimulated. He has gained a ton of weight. His only joys are affection, sleeping and eating.

Dogs, on the other hand, can go jogging with me, walking, I can take him to the dog park.

This is NOT a judgment on the animal. I love both species equally. But I just don't think cats are happy, at least the ones I know are not. They want to the things dogs do: explore the world, sniff and touch and eat new things.

It is really just that I can make dogs happy and provide them with what they need to be happy, but I have not done so well with my cat. Nothing at all against cats--my cat is the first non-rodent pet I adopted, and I love him, but I just know he is not happy.

There are lots of cat toys that could get your cat running around.
I have one outdoor cat left (a feral that I can't convince to come inside.) I feed her, she has a warm shelter. And she's very very chubby.

There are worse things than a life devoted to affection, sleeping and eating.

They become a part of us, of our everyday life. I had another black cat alongside Mephistine, her name was Layla. She was still quite young when she died of a tumor, right in my arms. I sobbed like a child, then took her little body to my parents' yard, dug a big hole and buried her in her favorite blanket. Each time you have to say good-bye breaks your heart.

29. Here's the bottom line: you got time, you like the outdoors, get a dog.

DONT have a dog if you can't treat him right. I've seen so many family just shut their pups up and go about their business. Dogs do so much for us; what they love almost as much as spending time with us is going out for walks. They love to smell the world around them, it's like chocolate or sex for them. Give 'em what they want, or adopt a cat.

BTW, I love them both. My Irish Setter (crazy, but I loved her) my Golden Retriever, my Calico kitty and now my Bombay mix kitty have enriched my life!
