i've come to the conclusion, i'll live out my life as a single person.
Edited on Sat Feb-13-10 10:38 PM by KG
edit - been single since getting divorced in '86

recent events have confirmed it.

sometimes the thought of it bugs me.

mostly, i worry about not being found till my body starts to really stink up some cold, dark, lonely apt. i do hate to be a bother.

1. If the apartment is cold, the stink might not be so bad.

13. I wasn't trying to be mean.
I doubt you'll be alone forever! I was just trying to indulge your self-pity a little since it's VD-eve!

3. I've come to the same conclusion
And decided to start getting rid of a lot of my stuff. I guess my heirs would be my nephews and they won't care that the meat grinder belonged to their grandma or the yellow screwdriver was their greatgrandpas. I just remember all the stuff we had to go through at my mom's -- and she's cleaned out a lot of stuff in the 3 months before she died knowing she was dying and trying to make it easier on us.

After all, it's just stuff, right?

26. ya, it is just stuff. but a few of that stuff matters. both hubby and i have a couple things
insignificant things like grinder and screw driver, from long past relatives. we love them. we think about them, with that stuff.

None of us knows what's going to happen in three minutes, let alone three years.

Someday I'll fall over dead in my little old house and nobody will notice except the cats, who will eat me.

19. I came to that conclusion a while back....
when I was discharged after surgery..got a taxi home..and fixing a can of soup and crackers to take painkillers was a huge task..I just slept in the EZ chair it was easier than trying to get into bed....ugh..

I worry about getting ill as I age and having no one to take care of me..

If you plan these things ahead of time, there's no reason you have to inconvenience other people.:P

24. do me a favour, if you are going to die alone dont have any pets
nothing worse than me having to break in to find fido or tiddles ran out of food last week and have now started to munch on mommy or daddy's corpse, its bad enough having to find you in the first place but half eaten is worse than even finding you dead naked in a pile of cheeto dust...

You got divorced two years before I was even born.

I'm sorry things suck for you. Maybe it'll all work out in the end though. As long as your heart is beating, there's still hope =)

28. If it's your choice, that's one thing. If you really don't want to live alone
then maybe it's time to revise your approach to meeting potential partners (or roommates).

I am a firm believer that you can create a positive aura for yourself that will attract people
to you.

29. You Need A Phone Friend
I am not single but I am not in great health and the thought of both of us having an accident spurred my best friend to make sure I give them a safety call every morning before 9 a.m.(time could be adjusted according to lifestyle). That way if you happen to have an accident or it's time to hit that great beyond someone would know about it before the fruit spoils!

32. Alone too by choice at this point so I understand your thoughts...
retired now and have lots of time to sit and read, write, or just think. What I miss is having a conversation over meals and other times, another pair of hands once in a while.

Am not unhappy, but I do envy people who have remained married 50 years or more and still get along well with each other. Ummm, that was the old fashioned way was it not? Hope you come up with an answer, you are too young to be alone...lots of good years ahead. Me? Too old to change my spots now.
