Would you allow your 15 year old son to go to this site ?
I'm just wondering,as I turned 15 last December and my mother is okay with me going here.Would you be okay if I was your son ?

And on the question of website restriction, how free would your teen be in regards to the Internet ?

6. She hardly ever posts, sadly. She knows more than most DUers, no joke.
She's too shy. But if you ever see a post by WarNoMore be sure to say hello. :)

7. I will certainly do that...
and I hope you know I was only joking about not allowing my mother here. Of course, I think this would be a great site for anyone. :)

12. I aspire to the maturity level of a 15-year-old.
.
But I've been told that before they'll let me into their club... I have
to go three full months without cracking a booger joke.
.
Oops.
.
DARN IT!!! Three months and counting.
.
Again.

10. I have a 15 year old son-
He gets in on conversations his dad and I have about DU threads, or each other's stuff on DU. Sometimes one of us reads something out loud and he listens and comments. I think it would be fine if he wanted to join DU, but he would rather do facebook, graphic design stuff, look up music, look at youtube animation, look at LEGO® sites, etc.

I find it kind of creepy that one can google an image of Almost Anything and some porny stuff will often be in the resultant mix! Oh well, it seems to me that TV, movies, video games, and the internet are all influenced by the opinions, likes/dislikes of 20 to 30 year old males more than the rest of us...
I just wish 'screens' weren't so addictive...for all of us!

Of course, I'd be thrilled but I'd be dead.

I do have a 15-year old son and when he goes online it's to watch stupid videos or find game cheats or something.

:sigh:

Welcome to DU! Can I adopt you?

22. For a moment there, I thought
you were going to post a link to some sleazy website.

My son will soon be 12, and he already is mature enough to know which sites I'm ok with and which ones are not cool. But he still asks me, for the moment, and I really appreciate that he does.

some threads. he doesnt sit to read du.

but, if he wanted, i would allow.

there are guidelines on du.

but i have never encourage social networking on internet with boys and myspace hasnt been allowed. facebook followed along. they dont have interest in these two sites. probably because they have never gone into them.

since he is older, if he showed an interest, i would relax some of the rules.

not going to do it though, if there is no interest.

32. This is one of the better-mannered sites on the internet.
I'd certainly let a 15 year old teen visit this place. It's pretty wild and woolly out there. If I had a teenage boy, I suppose I'd have "A CHAT" about the nastier sides of the internet and why we don't go there, i.e. viruses, illegal activity, nasty pr0n, and images and ideas you don't want to let inside your head, although I'm not entirely sure how I'd explain that at the moment.

33. Both of my teens are allowed here....
One is a 14-year old and one is now 18...

The eighteen year old has an interest in
politics, but the 14-year old does not.

34. I think it's a good thing
Anybody can learn a lot here. And it's a lot better than many other sites a 15 year old could be visiting.

35. I do have a 15 year old son ...
... and I'd be fine with him posting here if he wanted to. He has some interest in politics and current events, but his "free time" has been so scarce lately, he really doesn't have the time for this.
