| So I'm sitting here stirring my Smucker's. |
|
And this post really is about stirring one's Smucker's. I buy 'natural' P.B. that contains no sugar, no salt and no emulsifiers. The oil separates and rises to the top of the jar and has to be stirred back in.
Trying to stir a 16oz jar is a chore. I've tried spoons, knives, even chopsticks. Tedious. Recently my market only had the 12oz jars on the shelf. :slap palm to forehead: Stirring the smaller jar is a breeze. Try it.

| 1. My secret to stirring. Take a butter knife and slip it between the jar and PB all the way around, & |

then stab the PB over and over in the middle. That lets the oil down deeper and makes it easier to stir.

Get some of the oil down into the dry bottom right away. I will remember that.

organic store brand at Whole Foods you get the same ingredients but it doesn't separate and you don't have to stir that mess.

| 3. That is 'stabilized' with added palm oil. |
|
How does that affect calories, cholesterol etc. if at all?

| 5. I have remnants of a jar of Smuckers |
|
and I have a jar of the WF brand. They both have the same calories, the WF brand has 1 additional gram of fat, and .5 grams more saturated fat.

than the Smuckers, too. At least here it is. ETA: If you're stuck with the brands that separate, you can always get one of these" http://witmerproducts.com/pbutter.html

| 4. If you have the option ... |
|
... to get the stuff that's ground in the store, it doesn't have additives, and doesn't need stirring, and you can get whatever quantity is most convenient.

Chuck a spoon/spatula and let the tool do the work.
Alternate: mount only 1 blade in your mixer, proceed as same.
