The documentary "Winged Migration"
Has anyone seen this? It was made in 2001 and the photography is breathtaking. It makes you feel as though you are flying with the birds over 7 continents. No special effects where used filming the birds although some birds where trained to fly with the cameraman. The music is really nice too and fits well with the documentary.
Here is the trailer:

The video quality is lacking on this one, but it is a really nice remix:

1. No doubt one of the best nature docs ever.
Photography is wonderful. The viewer is put into a flock of geese, flying so close one seems able to reach out and touch one of them. And the phenomenon of migration itself amazing.

11. I love birds too!
The "making of" part of the DVD was really good including the music part. :)

6. I missed this at the theater.

But it's such an amazing film it's also good on the small screen. Animal Planet aired it a while back. I mentioned to a friend with a bad-ass home theater system, that we should watch it their place someday. Him and his wife were totally uninterested in seeing it. They have no idea what a treat they're missing...

10. It was very, very beatiful photography. I really wanted to see it.
Then when I actually got around to watching it, I thought it was a rather forgettable documentary as a whole. The narration and the CGI was cheesy and distracting.

IIRC, it came out around the same time as "The Story of the Weeping Camel." Much better film, IMO.

14. I rented it. I had heard good things. Somehow I wasn't in the mood to transform myself
into a bird and be wowed. Turned it off after 10 minutes.

15. I still have nightmares from a couple of the scenes
:(

I'm a bird person - I know what happens in real life - I still couldn't stomach a couple of the scenes - I can barely stand thinking about them now. The film was beautiful and I have the DVD - unfortunately I will never watch it again.
