People try to build their mafia family sizes, which requires adding FB friends to the game. The size of the family, up to 500, influences battles. Over 500, it's overkill 'cause it doesn't add a bonus, but people will still build for trading, job help, etc. purposes. In any case, fights are the main reason people want a big mafia, and you can help just by being a part of it and do not actually have to play.

That said, MW deletes your account if you've not logged in to the account in, I think, 90 days.

Be warned, however, that if you are a part of their mafia you're going to get what amounts to a crapload of SPAM.
