1. Both books are tediously written
But you'll get more out of Brinkley's.

And the central chapter describing that key 48-day stretch in Vietnam couldn't be boring if it was written by a tax lawyer in writing a Christmas newsletter.

5. It's always good to get an independent perspective of the candidate first.

Once I'm finished with "Tour of Duty" then I plan to read "A Call to Service".

3. 100 pages into Tour
I am 100 pages into Tour of Duty and I have have found it very good.

So far I have come to this conclusion: You can be a child of privilege and party and carouse and trade on your name and fortune until you are forty years old and then pretend to start growing up (the Bush model); or you can understand and appreciate your advantage and use it to learn, explore, investigate, and educate yourself ... and still do your duty for your country if you feel that is your obligation (the Kerry model).

When the voters are really introduced to John Kerry, in comparison to Bush, I think they will like what they see.

9. Ack..I had to read Grapes of Wrath for school last year
and our teacher tried to force us to read it too quickly so it was unenjoyable and I had to skim through parts and skip chapters even though it is well written and interesting.

Read Of Mice and Men on my own and liked it alot better than Grapes of Wrath..short, interesting, but a sad book.

We read Richard Wright's Black Boy and the teacher told us to read only the first part but I being I, I read it all. Quite good, black boy was great.

13. I can read pretty quickly, but I really enjoy reading..
books that I pick out rather than the ones that are assigned and I've been liking non-fiction more than fiction lately..

Enjoy reading the books!
