Simple yet awesome Ramen fix up
Cook the stuff with just enough water so there's a wee bit of liquid left. Add the damned packet, a couple squirts of teriyaki sauce, a nice sloop of soy sauce and the best part, a tablespoon of vinegar.

Yum!

1. Exactly. I don't know why anyone would eat it as "soup." Not to mention, your recipe

provides for maximum saltage, which is something I've always been in favor of.

2. Yum, saltage.
:hi: Redstone! Was just thinking about you today and wondering how life's treating you.

Personally, when I ate a metric shit-ton of Ramen in college, it was the Beef flavor + Szechuan pepper seasoning blend for me. Ow, the burning, and the salt... :D

3. Hey, sweetie! Good to hear from you. Though I've never known anyone who
ate the "beef" version of Ramyan (as they call it in Korea and VietNam)...I've only had the "chicken" type, which probably contains about as much actual chicken as my windowsill does.

Tell my little friend that Crazy Uncle Redstone says hello, OK? Same to J.

7. I've been nuts for salt lately
For most of my life I've gone fairly light on the sodium but recently, it's like I can't get enough.

Incidentally, mix soy sauce with vinegar and you'll have the best damned egg roll/gyoza dipping sauce on the planet.

11. Weird -- just ate some. If you get the good stuff from an Asian grocery,
you don't need to embellish a packet of the instant stuff, so much.

14. Not so weird
For the kid, I used to put them in a paper bag, smash them up a bit, pour in the powder, shake it good and give it to her as a crunchy snack.

16. that sounds pretty tasty
i usually throw in some frozen veggies before i start the noodles, and add half the packet, plum or hoisin sauce, garlic chili paste, soy sauce and just a drizzle of sesame oil. i'll have to try some vinegar next time.

18. I like Instant Ramen this way...
Edited on Tue Oct-27-09 07:06 PM by AsahinaKimi
Open the package. Throw away the little silver package. Take the noodles and microwave them in chicken broth or veggie broth for a bit. Then add real bak choy, mushrooms, and other veggies. You can add shrimp too if you like..or pieces of chicken. Add a bit of low salt kikkoman soy sauce and dig in with your chopsticks!

20. Sounds tasty
Don't get me wrong. I'm all for nutritious Ramen. Big fan of adding veggies and meat. But sometimes, I just want pure unadulterated salty goodness. :)
