There is nothing as painful as taking home an empty cat carrier from the vet
Oh my sweet sweet Grady is no longer with us. He is my sister's cat who has been with us since I was 11 . He showed up to our doorstep as a tiny little kitten mewing at our doorstep. We in our youth wanted to call him Grayie but my mom picked out Grady and it just fit He just was the sweetest soul I have ever met. It always got on my nerve when people said that cats were like roommates or just not that loving because he was a total lap cat all he wanted to do was cuddle and purr and boy could he purr. Even when he got to be a very big adult he still mewed like a kitten but had the loudest purr you ever did here. He developed diabetes and we changed his diet and everything but it just wasnt enough my sister made the decision today. I know I should just consider myself lucky for the time I was blessed with him but god it hurts like hell. God Damn That Empty Cat Carrier
If his passing could be for any reason please don't feed your pets crappy corn filled pet food. Premium pet food may cost more but it is worth it on lower vet bills and peace of mind I really didnt want to post this pic but only recently got a digital camera and this is not his jolly self which are captured on regular film

11. It's always a painful decision you have to make for your companions,
I buried too many cats long before their time. And yes, I hear you about the diet food - that's what we feed. It's more expensive, but it's worth it.

13. I believe you will. Your sweet baby waits for you at the Rainbow Bridge.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

So sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in your memories of unconditional love.

7. I have experienced that feeling too
You're so right about the cat food. I had a buddy who got diabetes and became a carb addict from the grain-based foods. For two weeks I gave him insulin injections. One day, he showed symptoms of an insulin overdose, so we got him to eat some canned food and brought him to the vets. He survived that, and we discovered that the all-protein food we were now feeding him made his diabetes controllable through diet alone, so - no more needles. Unfortunately, he also had pancreatic cancer, and it took him soon after.

my tabby. He's not very old, only 10. I've stopped feeding him dry cat food. He's getting tuna, salmon, pork and chicken. He likes a bit of rice with it too. He has been diagnose with diabetes and for the time being isn't suffering. When the time comes I will be heartbroken.

 for you ... again I'm sorry for your loss.

31. My sister's cat also has diabetes
(and so does she). She was having trouble controlling his blood sugar so she took him off dry food completely and gives him only canned now. He doesn't need any insulin and seems to be doing well. He's 15 or 16 and has no other health issues that we know of.

And, I'm with you on the corn-filled cat food thing. Ditto for wheat and soy. I hope all who read your post take your advice on that. I'm convinced that's what is causing the epidemic of feline diabetes.

I fell for their commercials and the scientific looking graph they had on the bag. The other two are on Evo and the pup is eating Wellness. Now that I have learned about pet nutrition I feel as though I have been feeding them Fritos or Chips for the past 14 years.

54. I am so sorry - he looked and sounded like an incredibly sweet boy.
I'm sure these words will ring hollow, but I have no doubt that he knew how loved he was by everyone around him.

PLEASE don't beat yourself up about his diet - I went through a variety of different super high-quality foods for my kitty when I adopted her close to 3 years ago, and her sensitive stomach kept rejecting all of these over a period of months and months. It wasn't until she tried a prescription food from Science Diet, whose list of ingredients I'm not crazy about, that she was able to eat consistently without any problems.

Last year we lost two dogs and a cat. It was awful. I was afraid that the fact that the dogs were liter mates would come back to haunt us and it did. The male went early spring and the female went in the fall. In the middle there my kitty from college went too.

It was almost enough to make me not get any more pets.

But then I thought about all the good times I would have missed and well...

71. I am very sorry. That is a horrible experience.
:(

I am very glad he was so loved, and that he loved you and your family so much in return. I have had two cats that were that amazingly loving. It is a wonderful gift.

I wish you had far more pictures to help you cherish his memory. I hope your memory is full though, so you can cherish him forever.

74. I'm so sorry--I've also had to carry an empty pet carrier home.

76. A dog collar and leash
with no dog attached. I lost my Sweet Meg, a Scottish Deerhound, two weeks ago. I still can't bring her things in from my car.
