I never have more than two or three, honestly, because I tend to focus strongly on a couple of things rather than weakly on a ton of things, and I close tabs as soon as I'm done with them.

five CDC and NIH pages, Cablevision TV listings, a couple of tool and woodworking plan sites, the phone company to pay the bill when I find my wallet and card, a bunch of other stuff I can't think of offhand, and six that are absolutely none of your business.
