Fresh trout for dinner tonight...
Yesterday I caught a 4 pounder while trolling... (pushed the skunk back another day)

Today we had the most fabulous dinner...

Trout, grilled. I filled the cavity with lemon slices, finely chopped mushroom, finely chopped Walla Walla onion, and diced tomato (homegrown), all sauteed in butter with crushed garlic. I wrapped the trout in aluminum foil, tightly sealed, and put it on my gas grill at 400 degrees for 15 minutes per side.

On the side we had steamed artichoke (homegrown), pattypan squash (homegrown), and steamed brown rice.

I hate living in the mountains.

1. OMG
drool

I'm having pintos and corn tortillas baked crisp in the oven with cheddar, chopped onions and salsa. Mine is good but yours is WAY better!

2. You're killing me.
I couldn't get my artichokes going this year, but my tomatoes always do well.

No trout though, just some catfish out of the Delta.

That's good livin' you got there my friend.

4. Rock, I was raised on catfish. Catfish, Bluegill, Crappie, and Bass.
The trout was good.

Out of 15 artichokes we planted, only four grew to maturity. I live in tall pine trees, and they just didn't get enough sun.

Tomatoes... well I have to brag... we must have had about a hundred pounds of tomatoes. We had to give them away, and we grew everything from grape to roma to beefsteak.

I'm a little bummed though, as we had our first freeze Sunday night. Everthing is dead.

6. Too bad about the freeze.
Yep, the seasonal screw is starting to turn in these parts too. I've picked the last of the tomatoes and now I've got some canning to do for winter.

Yep, catfish was big in my childhood, fresh from the Delta. Back then we'd take our poles to school and walk down to the piers at lunch and catch a couple. I will admit sometimes the fishing was so good we didn't make it back for our afternoon classes.

5. Oh by the way, the pattypan squash was the size of a small dinner plate.
With a little butter after steaming to al dente...

damn.

7. NICE!!!
As for me, I fish for bass.

Caught some one 16 incher and 2 that were around 14.

I love the meditative effect fishing has on me.
