Are you an Eric Clapton fan?

I like his music, but he doesn't rank that highly on my list.

Disraeli Gears and Layla are both great albums, but most of the rest doesn't blow me away.

Just my opinion.

1. I kinda used to be. He is clearly one great guitarist. And longevity,

anybody who can still be around after all these years.

I like his older stuff better - he used to rock a lot more.

Somewhere along the line he became just a nerdy white wanker, and ceased being a jammin' bluesman.

One of my dad's best friends knows him pretty well, and seems to think he's a pretty nice guy though.

3. I do like him. I don't go crazy for him, but he has some good music.

I really love his more bluesy music.

4. Love all his early stuff

Cream, disreali (sp) gears, derrick and the dominos etc. are outstanding.

5. His guitar can reach into my heart and soul.

It doesn't always, but it can, and that's a rare and beautiful thing. I'm thinking more of the Derek & the Dominoes material as well as much of his blues. With the exception of his live/blues albums, he hasn't put anything decent on a disc since the Dominoes days but he can still do it live, particularly when he does a show of all blues, one of which I was fortunate enough to see. "Layla"--the electric version--is still one of my favorite songs ever.

6. Not a fan. His guitar is too technical for me. I don't 'feel' anything.

So I don't really understand the draw and why he's supposedly so wonderful. Just my opinion though.
