FaceBook: Are you hooked on it, or do you find it over-rated?

I opened a FaceBook account in spring 2008 but was interested in it for all of 2 weeks. I just don't have the time for it because there are other things I'd rather do online.

1. i go there every day, cuz I found out that I was out of the loop...

I don't really like it, but that's where many people are in my circle.
It does make it easy to stay in touch...and have found friends that I haven't seen in years (which has been fun)
but it can also be just one big TMI (too much information)

3. pretty useless with a couple of exceptions; one being tracking down old friends

which has been awesome; have gotten together this year with 2 old hometown buddies I hadn't seen in decades, and had a great time both times....the other is finding out about gigs of people that are mainly casual friends/acquaintances that I might not have known about but was interested in seeing. Other than that, if I want to find out about what people are up to, or let em know the same about me, I'll call or email em....

People are lucky I answer the phone...or maybe unlucky, as the case may be.

I didn't really need to know that my high school nemesis (I led the nerd clique, she led the cheerleaders) is now a dental hygenist and sex-in-the-city wannabe, and she wants to friend me to "catch up on the last 9 years". Uh, I didn't like you then, why would I want to reconnect now?

ETA: nothing against dental hygenists of course...I'm a big fan of clean teeth!

I seem to be hooked on it, but I'm constantly asking myself "why?".

8. It may be fine for some people but I find it over rated.

I've wondered if it has to do with my age, I just can't get into it. I've noticed out of my list of friends and family that it's mostly the 40 and under crowd that use it the most. I have several my own age and we just email each other like we have for years.

Not hooked, but not over-rated.

I just like to check in with certain people, including quite a few ex-DUers, who without FB would have vanished into the cyber-ether.

I will say, however, that all the games like Farmville and Mafia Wars are teh suX0r.

I get to see old friends and new. It's great to catch up! However, I think most of those quizzes are really dumb.

my daughter and nieces, and play silly games.

I check in once a day or so just to see what my friends are saying, but all the apps and stuff? Meh. I'll do a quiz once in a while but I don't do any of the games or "sending things to other people". That got old pretty fast.

I just found out that you can play Scrabble on there with your friends turn by turn which is pretty cool.

normally keep in touch with. I am also addicted to Farkle.
