I bought this beautiful Native American instrument yesterday
Edited on Sun Sep-13-09 05:18 PM by charlie and algernon
it looks just like this flute, except it has an eagle instead of a horse. It makes such a calming sound. I've been playing around with it all weekend. It was a bit expensive, but well worth it.

10. seriously, thanks for that
I watched the entire 6 part set and I learned a ton. Turns out my flute came from his business. Don't know whether or not he actually made it though. I'm going to watch the 10 part advanced series tomorrow.

:hi:

11. What a thrill! And, having learned in the last couple of years that I have a Cherokee grandfather
that I never knew (because growing up I was "kept" from that side of the family )
I need to learn about my heritage. Unfortunately, my Cherokee grandfather died when I was young, and I know nothing of his family. Learning that I was descended from Native Americans filled me with such a sweet peace - and it explains a lot, including my activist heart for human rights. We live in North Carolina and have yet to go to Cherokee in the Western NC mountains! I've GOT to go - it's like I have no choice. And I will own one of those beautiful cedar flutes.

12. that's sad that you weren't able to learn about your heritage.
From what I gather, I haven't a speck of Native American in me. But I've always loved the sound their music. I was at the MD RenFaire on Saturday and there was this booth with many different types of instruments and they had those flutes. I just started playing around with them and I knew I had to buy one. I'm dying to take it hiking with me and just play out in the woods by myself. I'm buying a case for it this week to protect it, so that I can pass it down to my future kids and grandkids.

9. I got mine at the MD Renaissance Festival
it cost $130, way more than I should've spent, but well worth it. I love it.

6. I need to get a native american flute. Such a lovely sound
and I don't have any wind instruments right now. Been missing playing something like that. I used to play tenor recorder in the Early Music Ensemble at my last school. There's something simple and beautiful about real wooden flutes, and the native american flutes are even more so thanks to the double chamber.

8. it makes a beautiful sound, and it's very easy to play
I played trumpet for years but I haven't touched it since college. I like having another instrument to play.
