1. I haven't seen it, I know at least a couple of people on here have.
They were split I know at least one person hated it, and I think a couple liked it a lot. My question is, can I take my fourteen year old son to see it?

5. Thanks, he won't see this one then. He has already asked. I told him I didn't think so.
Now, I'll tell him a definite no.

6. I bet if I fixed that "For Humans only" sign
it would be PERFECT to ward off Freepers..........

Sorry your Son will have to wait to see it. But, it gives him something to look forward to in the future.

2. I would very much recommend it
Its not perfect - I'd say they spend a little too much time on some unnecessary action sequences, for example - but it's otherwise rather thought-provoking...

3. I saw it opening night and would highly reccomend it
it's a well written, tense action movie. It's got heart too, with plenty of references to Apartheid and racism in general.

21. please do.
i haven't seen it yet but my friend has.

after the explanation he gave me (i'm a spoiler junkie) we discussed a lot about the implications of the film. the b;atant racism, and how humanity would react to aliens in the event the tables were turned. fearing that which is different leads to oppressing that which is different. this is the motto and creed of the human species.

it's a good and accurate reflection of humanity as a whole from what i gather.

10. Wow people liked it, I think it was the
most god awful piece of crap I have seen in years. I guess if you enjoy to watch mindless violence and get excited over hearing the f-bomb you could like it.

24. I agree. Really disappointing film
They did almost nothing with the very interesting premise.

It dissolved into an ordinary sci-fi shooter.

Can't believe people are so gaga over this piece of shit.

I would give it 4 out of 5 stars. I would have been mature enough at 14 to see it. I had an older brother who would get me into all kinds of R rated horror films when I was a kid, so I'm not really the one to give advice about that! :hi:

12. Yes and yes.
Agree with everything here (interesting concept, some of the action is drawn out too much, I really like the main character but can understand how other people wouldn't)

I would say the violence level is about on par with Aliens(which I loved when I was 14), maybe a little more graphic. There's a lot of splatter and gross medical stuff. I don't think it would warp a kid for life and unlike 99% of movies, the gross stuff actually serves a purpose (to horrify you with callous corporate fuckwads).

15. Shakycam made me sick to my stomach but go see it!
Take Dramamine and check it out. The blowing-people-up parts were reminiscent of Scanners, if you've ever seen that movie.

16. Best science-fiction movie I have seen in YEARS
I think the haters have a lot of problems with:

1) The very bloody (though cartoon-like) violence.
2) The almost nonstop use of the F-word.
3) The sociopolitical plot, which usually does not mesh well with wild Transformers-like action.
4) The fact that, with a couple of exceptions, there are no clear good guys. The main protagonist in this movie is, for the most part, a real asshole.
5) The fact that many fundamental (though ultimately unimportant) questions are never answered and are left up to the viewer.

If you have trouble with any of the above, then you will probably not care for this movie. If you're okay with it all, you will probably love the movie as much as I did. I thought it was terrific and want to see it again.

I thought is was the worst piece of crap movie I had seen in years. I considered getting up and leaving but stayed to the end thinking maybe it would get better. Why in the hell was the ship stranded there in the first place? If it was we would have killed them all, the thing didn't make a lick of sense to me.

22. Yes and Yes, go see this important picture!
Well done little movie. The special effects are incidental to the story. Bone up on the trailers and the website before going. Seek out and see "Alive in Joburg", the 2005 mini mini pic the director made, you will see why Jackson wanted to throw his WETA weight behind this great show.

Don't get all SPOILED before you see it-- there are dozens of awesome little moments--will strike viewers differently.

I loved it loved it. A little blade runner, a little silent running, a little blair witch, a little alien, some omega man thrown in.

Save the reviews for after you see it!
