Sorry, I'm still pissed off about what an utter fucking abomination the new Star Trek movie is.

I know, I know. It's been months.

But I'm still pissed.

I don't think I've ever felt so betrayed by anything, not even Nemesis, not even First Contact, not even Insurrection, not even the all-war all-the-time bullshit wet dream of Rick Berman that was DS9 and other shows under his criminal asshole reign, that fucking criminal.

If the new Star Trek movie had called itself something else, and given the characters different names, it would be just simply a "sort of okay summer blockbuster space movie that's fun to watch, but clearly has no meaning, but I can live with it sort of, and even though I'll never feel like watching it again, I also probably won't ever think about it again and don't really care one way or another"; but they decided to call it Star Trek, so it is an abomination and should be stricken from history and Rick Berman and JJ Abrams should have their testicles ripped out by rabid monkeys and then the UN should sanction them off of earth.

Just sayin'.

4. Which would be:
"And Rabrrrrrr considered the new Star Trek movie and found it an abomination. And he ordered it and all of its creators and its advertisers and its producers and its unholy actors cast down, condemned and anathema forever; and woe be unto him who pays $7 to an apostate cinema and purchases unclean popcorn therein, and sits his heathen haunches upon the unclean seats and witness the abomination that is the new Star Trek movie; and greater woe be unto him that heeds not the condemnation of Rabrrrrrr and rents the accursed DVD; for he shall incur the everlasting wrath of Rabrrrrrr and shall suffer the unending torments of the wrath of Rabrrrrrr."

2. I loved the new Star Trek movie. Lots of fun.
The last Star Trek movie I truly enjoyed since IV.

I can see why some didn't like it though...

6. "Star Trek as seen through a Star Wars prism..."
After reading that bit in the John Byrne forum, I knew I wouldn't like the end product.

7. I love how reviewers call it "accessible"... Never mind Khan is coming back...
Given how many trek references were in the remake, there is no way that JJ - who is on record saying he never cared for the franchise to begin with - bothered to sit through any old trek, so I have to wonder who helped him write that abomination of a movie...

As for "accessible", let's call it what the word means in context: You know, as in "dumbed down", "marketed fluff", "empty gibber", and the rest.

People who liked it still ask about "What was that with Spock and the 'alternate reality' thing, I don't get it?" Doesn't sound like it was very accessible at all.

What happened to genre-oriented niches anyway? Why must everything be set to the lowest common denominator and shoved at everybody? Not everybody likes the same types of drama, so why whittle it down to people who only watch it for the video game-quality special effects, product placement ads, *uck scenes, and wham-bam-kaboom explosions?

Oh, that's right, intellectualism is a bad thing and that must NOT be encouraged in the media at all.

Still, the new remake could have been worse: It could have been wallowing in topical gibber, loaded with emo wankers, and be a soap opera instead of banal action flick.

Heck, Rick berman, for all his preaching and Ron Jones firing, did Trek better. And trust me, that is NOT easy to say because I will never forget how bad TNG season 5 and 6 were, never mind all the wretched spinoffs...
