3. I bought this album around 1976
after seeing Kraftwerk on "In Concert," or maybe "Don Kirshner's Rock Concert." I've always had an odd fascination with "machine" music, even as a kid watching Bugs Bunny and other WB cartoons, like the Goofy Gophers, Mac and Tosh, who seemed to always be riding conveyor belts and whatnot in a vegetable-processing plant. The music in those, too, sounded like what it was about, and that fascinates me for some reason — the merger of visual and aural. It takes someone with heightened sensory awareness to create it.

"Autobahn" is great to fall asleep to, btw. :)

8. Thank you!
The memories of having this played in my dad's car (which was a Volvo) *all the time* is just nothing I want to be ever reminded of. Like :puke: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOex8Xpq6-U&feature=Play...

And I loved Vangelis! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iW_qGMRmJAw Thats what I was listening to when I had my first, errm, heated up THC inhaled. Of course, I puked later and never had it again until being way older.

And hey, my mom loved Renault cars! That's what I grew up with, and I'm happy to be still alive to tell you the story.

9. When I was little, my uncle had two Dauphines
A '59, I think, and then a '62. He worked in Monterey for awhile, and on his commute there's a bit of a hill just this side of Monterey Airport. He once told me that the Dauphines were straining to make 35 mph going up the hill (Wha'd they have, like 40 horsepower?) and a line of cars would form behind him every morning, tooting their horns.
