who is dumber than the UPS man?
I ordered three books from amazon.com last friday evening.
I checked the order for correct address etc, and everything was right

OK! I allowed for the week end but I thought they would be here at least by yesterday. The books are still not here They have been at a small town only a few miles from here marked "undeliverable, wrong address"

A few minutes ago I contacted Amazon and they are sending a re-order, one day delivery immediately.

Well the UPS truck just went down my road. I opened my door and stood there so I could wave him down.

He turned around in my neighbors driveway (they are summer people and not there right now) I am standing there waving like a crazy woman and he didn't even glance my way.

It is not like I have never ordered dozens of books from Amazon.com.

1. Maybe the FedEx guy?
Who apparently put my package on the back of a snail. It left Ohio for Michigan on August 4 and hasn't been tracked since...

2. My substitute mail carrier.
My house number is 118. Every day I get mail for 114, 116 or 119. Last Monday I got my phone bill, a post card - and a huge pack of mail for 118, but for the next street over. And its not like the two street names are anything alike.

3. The DSL assholes
I had 7 boxes shipped from the US to Germany. Six arrived without problems. The 7th one I had to call and call about and it finally showed up 3 months later. It was completely destroyed and delivered by the DSL Asshole in a bag and unceremoniously thrown on my foyer floor. I complained. The next time my family sent me a care package, spending hundreds of dollars on the items and shipping, the DSL Assholes claimed they couldn't find my address, even though they had already delivered 7 fucking packages to my house in the months previous and it's the same DSL asshole on this route. So my family re-sent it via UPS and it got here asap but we had to pay out the nose in taxes and shipping fees.

Sorry had to vent.

6. Nothing you wrote indicates stupidity on the part of the UPS guy.
Are you sure he saw you? Are you sure he didn't have the radio on, thereby making it hard to hear you? It's not like you're the only one in your area ordering books from amazon.com or that any amazon.package in that truck must so obviously be yours and only yours. You have not provided proof that the package you were waiting for was actually on the truck.

I used to deliver UPS years ago, and every time someone didn't get their package it was somehow MY fault. It couldn't be anyone else's, it was always mine, and extending that logic some customers would tell me that I was not only stupid, but I was also an asshole because they didn't get their precious package. Typical.

In each instance I would invite the inconsiderate blowhard to look in my truck for their precious package, and then remind them that I didn't load the truck myself. None of them ever found the package I was too "stupid" to give to them, and yet not one of those assholes ever apologized, either.

No offense, but from the UPS driver's side, you guys often come across as stupid yourselves, and are not always a pleasure to deal with.

12. There are three houses on my road
and I order from amazon regularly. I tracked the package online and it has been within a few miles of where I live for four damn days.

I am never rude to service people, and I won;t be rude to this one. I am sorry I peed in your cheerios.

30. You have offered no proof that it was actually on the truck.
"A few miles of where you live for four damn days" doesn't mean it was loaded on the truck, and yet you assume the driver was stupid. If that was actual proof, how did you conclude that it HAD to be loaded on precisely the fourth day when it was oh so close and yet wasn't loaded on the first three?

If there are only three houses on your road and you get Amazon packages so often, one would think that if the driver could remember his way to your house he could put two and two together IF the package was on the truck. Instead of thinking for a moment that it wasn't, you just assume he's stupid. No, you weren't rude to his face, but you felt compelled to get on a message board with over a hundred thousand members and regale us with stories about how much of a dolt he must be.

Very classy. It's people like you that make customer service exactly as rewarding as it is.

32. Thanks.
I'd like the OP to drive a UPS truck for a week and see how rewarding it is. Maybe after several dumps taken on her head every day she'd realize how much fun it is delivering packages to people who will call you an idiot for something that isn't your fault.

The ignorance of that original post is amazing. Just think of what the reaction would be if she had made such a blind, ignorant assumption about a race instead of a profession. For example, just based on that post alone I could walk around saying that midwest women are spoiled brats who think the world revolves around them and will instantly go into a blindly ignorant snit if they don't get their way - would that be justified, or would more facts perhaps be needed?

39. it's usually the shipper
if they don't address something right or make other clerical errors, the shipment has a hard time even getting past sorting once it starts in the system.

if i'm not mistaken, shipment handling is largely automated. as such, any type of error will snag the parcel way before it even reaches the route driver.

9. That's not really fair at all
Who is dumber than your specific UPS man?

That might be a fair question because you've had a bad experience. Then again, maybe not.

The UPS drivers who deliver to my current home aren't the best I've seen, but they're also not the worst.

In the home I lived in 2 years ago, the regular driver was one of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet, and a pro all the way. So much so that I contacted UPS and asked that my testimonial be placed in his personnel file for his next review.

People are people...blanket statements about race, gender, religion, sexuality or any person's job diminish that person as well as any person making the statement.

No disrespect intended, just as I am sure that you didn't intend any toward the multitude of UPS drivers who are out there today doing their jobs.

36. Same problem here...
I once got a FedEx package with a map drawn on it. There's a guy down the road who gets half my FedEx packages and he has me on speed dial now.

UPS almost never gets it right-- I try not to order anything with UPS shipping. They don't even bother to drop it off by the guy down the road.

Both of them have my phone number on the label, but do I ever get a call?
