Will no one sell me a suit?
I'm going to a wedding at the end of the month and I need to buy a suit. It has been close to 20 years since I last bought one. Are there any stores in existence that sell suits for people who are not slim teenagers?

I went to a mall. A mall! I expected I would have options. And what did I find after going to the three men's stores and the four anchor stores? There was one jacket for sale in the whole freaking mall that was bigger than a 44L and it was black - the one color I didn't want.

If retailer's want business, it would be nice if they actually stocked some merchandise for the people who have enough money to buy their crap with. I am so fed up. How many stores do I have to go to to find a suit? Why don't the big and tall men's section sell something other than belts, slacks, and shirts?

It feels like the malls don't want big guys like me shopping there. If they did, I would expect them to stock more than one freaking suit jacket in my size! This recession could be over if they would stop marketing strictly to thin little teenaged shits who don't have two dimes to rub together. I'm so ticked off over this inconvenience that I could scream. ARGLESNOCKMUCKERPLOP! (That was my rabid, incoherent scream).

1. it's not a very PC response, but......
but maybe try a men's suit store in the "urban" area of town. I have only had to buy two suits in the past ten years, but I got them both from African American owned and focused stores. They usually have more styles in big and tall sizes as well.

2. Not an option
The Big and Tall shop I used to go to was an early victim of the recession. And I can't be any more "urban" than I already am. I live in the heart of St Paul and it the downtown here is not famous for shopping.

4. there's a chain called Casual Male XL
Should be able to help you out if there's one around. Menswearhouse claims to have big and tall sizes, too.

Do NOT be tempted by Casual Male XL's 10% off if you get their credit card... it took them like 45 minutes to do the paperwork when I fell for it.

7. Nope. They don't stock any of that in my size
If they had things like that in my size, I would not have complained. Macy's at least had one suit jacket in my size, but it was black - and the suit was $200 more than I wanted to part with.

6. Did you try Nordstrom?

They have the most helpful staff. If they can't find a fit, they will direct you to someplace that can help you.

Good luck... hope you enjoy the wedding!

8. Not yet....
I have an aversion to the Mall of America. That will have to be a last resort. Maybe tomorrow I'll drive 45 miles to the outlet center that I always wind up buying my clothes from. It's not that I like Van Husen or Dockers, but at least they have a decent selection of merchandise to compare at this place.

wearing a size 4 (when I'm lucky). When I can't find shoes for a special occasion, I usually head to Nordstrom. I can get in & out quickly (and painlessly). It's usually worth the extra cost!

12. No Men's Warehouse near you?
What you need is a rough sized suit and a tailor. MW has a good mix of both at a low price point, and they specialize in big & tall sizes.

Good luck and enjoy the wedding.

13. Men's WearHouse is your best bet.
I'm a big guy (52 Long), and I can usually find something there, or they can get one from another store.

14. Can you rent one?
Not sure if this is a stupid suggestion or not, but you can rent tuxes. Maybe they also have nice business-style suits?
