| Did Anyone See The Fan Fall Over The Railing At The Pirates Game Tonight? |
|
Older guy, reaching for a foul ball from the first row, fell over and faceplanted himself in the track just past the first base dugout. He had about a three inch diameter (bleeding) scrape right in the middle of his forehead, but the replays showed that his neck bent all the way back.
Albert Pujols, the Cardinals firstbaseman, ran over and stopped the guy from getting up and and stayed with him the whole time they treated him on the field and until they wheeled him away to the ambulance. The game was delayed for a good 15-20 minutes while first the trainers and then the paramedics treated him.
The thing is, the guy had his son with him who was an adult (or nearly adult) with Downs Syndrome. The kid had to come onto the field and wait on the cart and then take that slow ride as they wheeled his Dad to the ambulance. At least they gave the kid the ball...
It was pretty scary scene.

Hope the guy will be okay. And I hope his son wasn't too traumatized.
