Update on fawn rescue - Pics

I have been visiting "Angel" since her rescue in June. However, she will be moved to a 1000 acre farm soon where she and her friends will be introduced back to the wild. It is quite a process and the folks who do this are amazing people. So my daughter and I went to see her to say good-by. God, it was so bittersweet. These little guys are just cute overload.
This was one of the most heartwarming experiences of my life.

However, If you read the older post, her mother was the most wonderful "friend". She came by the house twice a day all year round to get something to eat and hang out. She was amazing and very tame. One morning I woke up to hear her clicking her hoofs on the front steps on a Saturday morning...to wake me up! No lie. I miss her terribly.

14. Somehow I missed this whole story

And I just read the entire thing and am now bawling like a baby at my computer. How beautiful that a wild creature trusted you enough to bring her baby to you, and that you repaid that trust by caring for it when she was killed.

I'm going to be a basket case for the rest of the day. What a wonderful outcome from such a sad situation. :) :cry: :)

The last post I saw about it was right after her mother had been killed. Angel was so young that it seemed there was little hope for her.

I'm so sorry about your wild friend, her mother. :hug: I can think of no better tribute to her than taking such good care of her child, and also posting this story so lots of people can be touched by it, and spend a little time thinking about how each of us can do something to make the world better for animals.

Happy tears from me. I'm so glad that it's turned out so well for the sweet baby Angel. (A friend and I attempted to rescue a fawn that had been hit by a car, but it was not to be. :cry: )
