The love of my life is gone

My wife, Donna, passed away at 4 this morning in the emergency room. i found her unresponsive at 2 in the living room and when I tried to wake her I noticed blood trickling out of her nose. I just got home and am running on autopilot.
We've been officially married 13 years but we've been together most of the last 35.
Dammit! And tomorrow was her birthday.

Honey, I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. I don't know you at all but hope that you are surrounded by very supportive friends and family at this time.

Nothing in life, even knowing none of us is promised another single day let alone a set number of years, prepares any of us for the shock of this when it happens. I work with elderly people in a residential retirement community and even surrounded by the eventual and having it occur very frequently, this still shook me when I read it. It's my greatest fear in life and the reason I almost refused to get married, because I was afraid of this eventuality.

I wish for you the peace and comfort the memories of those 35 years and the love you bore for Donna and she for you will bring in time, when the loss is not so fresh. And please know that, while it seems impossible now, time will make it easier to think of her without feeling like your heart is being ripped out.

Get plenty of rest right now, whenever you are able, even if it doesn't involve sleep, as it most likely will not. Take care of you and think of what she would want you to be doing to do that, honor her memory by taking very good care of the one she cared for most in her life. :hug:

I know there is absolutely nothing I can say to help right now.

Almost the exact thing happened to me in February -- with my wife, Jane, of 25 years. It does get better with time, I think, but it takes awhile. One thing I did do within a couple of weeks of my wife's passing is see my physician as I wasn't eating, was dealing with anxiety and at times depression, etc. That helped me, but we all respond differently.

Take care of yourself and we will all be thinking about you. Post back when you feel like it. You have lots of friends here.
