Another question: The whole adolescent crush thing. I never had one.
Now I'm crushing all over the place. Now I'm breathless, first over certain DUers and lately, over males and females on the big screen. Without making mock, WTF is this? Not having the youthful experience it's impossible to calm myself with the suggestion that "some day you'll fall in love." Nonsense! Even so, it will not be with one of my crushes. Is this like being a man? Are there hormones I can take to suffocate my useless enthusiasm? You think I'm joking? No. My worst fear: graduating to the permed gray hair without kissing as many beautiful man as I want to.

Shut up. I'm baring my withering soul. There are no doubt a few unmarried ladies out there who know what I mean, but they probably post at decent hours. :P

1. Welcome to adulthood, my dear crim son!
Everyone has crushes; even I did! I think it's because I hadn't had them when I was young too...

Enjoy yourself!

Maybe one of them will become something... you never know!;-)

Kiss the beautiful men! It is a very good thing, IMHO!

9. Crushes can be nice.
It makes you feel youthful and strong. I actually had one on a lesbian co-worker a few years back, it was weirdly nice having a simple crush I knew wasn't going anywhere. Don't know why.

10. I guess I agree in principle.
As an older person I've had crushes and most - few! - are a pleasure. Now and then, about once a year, I get a crush that disturbs me. This pointless disturbance is exactly why I chose as a young person to shrug off any pointless "attachments." These days it does appear that most attachments are pointless and it's harder to subvert my fantasies. I feel like I'm a ridiculous charicature of an aging female and worse, maybe I'm not the charicature at all but the real thing.

Whoever/however we were formed: I think aging is a crual joke.

I love and hate them at the same time.

12. Well, at least your not mentioning Alan, what's-his-name. LOL!
Seriously, an adult crush can be pretty embarassing, especially if your family finds out. I've kept my crush secret from my daughter for over 20 years, but recently told her who I'm carrying a torch for.

She was amused. Actually, she couldn't stop laughing. Now I'll only admit such around complete strangers who have NO idea who I am.

13. Hello!
So far, I haven't been crushing in my newly "single" status. I used to crush a lot when I was still attached. Not sure what that's all about either.

17. I started having crushes in 7th grade, on men who were old enough to be my dad.
Edited on Thu Jul-30-09 05:28 AM by Withywindle
Early 80s, y'know, I was 12, I was NOT into androgynous young pop idols, I was into older men with chest hair and loud guitars like Jimmy Page and Ritchie Blackmore.

Now, at 40, I find myself getting randomly tingly from the hormonal scent of some young thing on the bus, and I like that. Totally normal. Sex drives are like that. I've found in my life (engaged twice, never married) that love is overrated but sex at least is honest.

18. That sounds wonderful, actually.
I would guess that it means you're open emotionally, but not needy. You just want them to be with you. :)

I hope you can enjoy this, and hopefully some of your crushes will crush on you too. :)

You're certainly worth it. :loveya:
