1. Yeah it is. Almost as bad as that heat wave last summer.

I can't stand it, and I grew up in Georgia. Our apartment is usually cool, even when it's hot, because it's tucked against a hillside (sort of like a hobbit hole), but tonight is so warm, it's even uncomfortable in here, with the fans. I can tell my kitties are uncomfortable, too.

Fortunately, it hasn't been too humid, which would make it even worse!

I swear, the older I get, the more difficult it is for me to deal with higher temperatures. I doubt I'll ever be a snow bird.

One good thing about going to work during the day, though.....my office is air conditioned!

It's been darn hot here, too, but compared to a lot of other places, 85° F. isn't so bad. We had a nice thunderstorm overnight, so it's nice and cool this morning.

Here's my top-secret method of cooling off, since we don't have AC: Take a nice, long, cool (not too cold) shower, then just BARELY dry off. Wrap a big, fluffy towel around you and lie yourself down down on cotton sheets with a fan running and a good book or movie until ya fall asleep.

My kids are visiting from Spokane and THEY think it's hot. We were at Wild Waves yesterday, thankfully. Tomorrow we're going to take a ferry ride just because it's bound to be cooler on the water. Oh, and they've never been on any kind of big boat.

Still... I prefer hot to cold.

I didn't even think of Wild Waves. That would be fun, except that I haven't worn a bathing suit since God was a little boy.

Nice thing about cold weather is that you can always pile on more clothing. In hot weather, once you get down to your birthday suit, there's not much left!

here in portland yesterday by the handy "widget" on my phone. Though the digital readout in my car said 109.

They are saying 102 today.

Holy crap! A friend of mine is there for vacation and she (from the South) was complaining about the heat.

I don't remember summers being like this as a kid! Used to a little sun, a little rain, but mostly cloudy days!

I have never seen anything like this. Up on the Buckley Enumclaw plateau, it looks like thunder clouds off to the south east. i shudder to think what havoc thunder would create, it being so dry out.

I've lived in the Pacific NW for almost 40 years...Washington my whole life...
and today was definitely one the likes of which I've never experienced before...

and tonight...at twilight...the sky looked so freaking strange.
The color was very other-worldly. Felt like being in the Twilight Zone.

I was talking to native Seattle-ite at the time
and she was totally wierded out by how it looked as well.

56. My daughter, who lives up on Capital Hill and has a view of downtown,

said she could see shimmering heat waves over the downtown buildings.

I took a shower earlier (a very COOOOOOOL shower), and my shampoo and conditioner felt like they'd been warmed in the oven.
