At a party last night: "I guess you're the only Democrat in the neighborhood."

That was the opening conversation gambit of an acquaintance at a largish cocktail party in our neighborhood.
30 or so neighbors.

I do live in a predominantly repug neighborhood, in a predominantly repug town, in a predominantly repug county.
About 75-25 according to recorded votes.

But why would a guy I've known for 16 years think that's a good way to begin a conversation?
Maybe he thought it was funny?
Trying to needle me?
Who knows.

I told him I wasn't but also asked him if that mattered to him.
He gave me the 'heh heh heh' and didn't answer.
I pointed out 5 or 6 others in the crowd that were Democrats.
Maybe I'm just more 'out loud' about it than the rest.
