6. someone did that to our anniversary post, i am assuming its not about the post
as much as it is about the poster.

10. Honestly, on Skinners thread I'm going to suggest perhaps not having that feature in the lounge
I think this should only be for the forums that could end up on the Greatest Page. Lounge threads do not make the greatest page.

i dont really care how people use this feature or really any others!

23. your anniversary thread wasnt unrecommended
it shows +3 with 3 votes, which means all of them were recs.

But, it would have been pretty crappy if someone did unrec it.

Edited on Thu Jul-09-09 01:47 PM by La Lioness Priyanka
which is why i thought it was unrec'd

29. weird
but, if that is the case perhaps the admins can veto unrecs that they think are just being hateful. And hopefully they can see who the ugly poster is at the same time.

24. it may have been a glitch
on your other post that I replied "may be random", I had clicked UNrec as a joke and it went as a + and only one vote so I am pretty sure it wasn't two other people at the same time.

 (if it was meant to be an unrec, I didn't do it to your anniversary thread - and I agree that is petty)

7. I think it's a great feature.
Everyone's happy and proud when their threads are recommended, so it strikes me as more than a little disingenuous that anyone would take exception to his/her thread being given what is essentially a  :hi:

9. Not sure if I like it for the lounge but I love it for GD/GDP
I'm tired of seeing one-sided views on the greatest page. To me, something that is great is something that has broad appeal to all members.

As for the lounge, it'll just be a new toy to annoy others, like we have to find new ways to annoy each other

12. The recommend feature often is used to annoy others in the Lounge,
so I can appreciate the wisdom of offering balance. Even if Lounge threads can't make it to Greatest and although there's no "unGreatest," I see the value. What I wish is that there were an "unkick" feature to balance out the gratuitous kicks. :)

16. Oh, how about if there's a thread with evident intent to disrupt,
Edited on Thu Jul-09-09 01:47 PM by Heidi
and it gets recommended by others with the same intent? Don't you suppose that would annoy those annoyed by intentional disruption, especially if there were evidence that it was organized disruption? :hi:

ETA: Disruption organized off site happens plenty. freerepublic is a good example.

13. I'm never posting another thread evah again
:scared:

I hate rejection, bad enough my threads plummet to the bottom then onto page 2 in record time, now they will have some unrecommends. :(

I'm glad the number of unrecommend doesn't show up and all you get is "<0"

I wish it was just "0" though.

:hi:

14. I think it's a great idea
I think the greatest page will be far more indicitive of DU's, as a whole, feeling about topics and threads. I like the idea that they stopped at <0. that seems like a great way to prevent the unrecommend as being used as a weapong against people.

19. I love it for GD/GDP
I can't tell you how many times I wanted to unrecommend a thread that was way too lopsided/narrow-minded to be on DU home page.

I'm just having fun with this thread as you can see only 23 people have told me I suck already

20. Already I see potential for abuse
For example your post is a silly lounge thread but it already has 24 votes. Normally a post like this would struggle to get 1 recommend.

21. Honestly the lounge we all have to take it with a grain of salt
But I think this is needed for GD/GDP. Especially when I see stuff like "I"MNOTVOTINGFOROBAMABECAUSEHETOOKMYBALLANDSPATATMYMAMAK&RTOGETTHISTOTHEHOMEPAGE" type threads.

For me in main lounge, I want threads that have broad appeal by all DUers to be on the greatest page.

22. Keep a look for the duplicitous K&R, where you write one thing, and then click unrec...
in order for it to look like two people undid your rec.

27. That is what I mean
It has the potential for recommend wars over topics that may be controversial. I honestly don't care because I don't pay much attention to the greatest page but that may go both ways. Someone posts some honest criticism of Obama and other posters who can't handle it may unrecommend it and an important topic that should be discussed fails to make it. That is vice versa too. I'm not on either side because when he does something I don't agree with and when he does something I agree with I praise him. I don't make it too every single thread posted on DU so I may not appear to be consistent but I do both.

31. Here's my 2 cents about the DU home page and greatest list - it's not really for us DUers
don't get me wrong. I'll glance at it to see the big headlines for the day. But the homepage is the sell tool for those people who are looking to join DU and also something that is read by rightwingers to see what 'crazy things we DUers are doing'

For me the DU homepage should showcase the best of DU and not the tactics of a small group of DUers trying to push their agenda on the DU home page.
