My Nephew Comes Home This Friday From Iraq (Army)
He was slightly wounded last week, as he watched his Sgt who was in front of him get killed
by an IED, south of Baghdad.

12. I'm happy to read this
However sad for his Sgt will not be returning home.

Was he in a Humvee? Those are particularly vulnerable to IEDs. The M915s we drove were pretty resistent which is why the 915 was the lead vehicle. However there is no match for an EFP which took out my friend April 13th, 2007 south of Baghdad as well.

I know the article says IED but it was actually an EFP which is technically the same thing but an EFP is much more deadly then the common roadside bombs.

15. Here's hoping he doesn't get stop-lossed him at the last minute

I've never forgotten a story I read here about a planeful of homebound soldiers awaiting takeoff instructions. Some officers boarded the plane, and three soldiers were escorted off to be redeployed.
