Speaking of vanity

See that vanity on the lower right? I totally had that when I was a little girl!

Missy!

EDIT ADD: Okay. My bad. Empire Waistline.

Just the same, Princess Waistline is the better response.

3. "Suzy Homemaker", huh?
Never knew where that phrase came from.

Wow, you were a lucky child!

4. Sort of
My spoiled cousin had all-white furniture, the real stuff, made out of wood with gilt trim. That plastic vanity was my parent's attempt to satisfy my seething enmity.

5. My best friend had the real wood white stuff with gilt trim.
And I didn't get the vanity! I still had a great childhood though, we just weren't very materialistic.

6. I also asked for and got this doll

I loved her. Being the baby of the family, I was a wee bit spoiled. Just the same, I think my folks did okay.

9. She is adorable.
I had never seen that doll before. It is sweet you wanted her and not some glamour doll.

10. She didn't last long on the shelves
It was the mid-sixties. A doll like her probably wouldn't be released today because people would think it was bad taste. Apparently she creeped out too many little girls.

12. Awww, it's all good
Thing is, my folks were depression-era children so there was a lot of re-use/repair in our house. My Dad bought our home on the GI bill. Plus we lived in an area where the cost of living was incredible. He supported a wife and 4 kids on $20,000 a year.

Personally, I love cinder block furniture. :hi:
