Favre has shoulder surgery. Enjoy, Minnesota!
Brett Favre's determination to play quarterback this season for the Minnesota Vikings prompted him to undergo arthroscopic surgery to repair his injured passing shoulder recently, according to two sources. However, Favre remains unable to make a commitment because subsequent throwing sessions indicate the shoulder is not yet 100 percent.

While Favre has now clearly demonstrated his interest in coming out of retirement for a 19th season in the NFL, it seems equally obvious that he will not do so unless convinced he has recovered fully from the torn biceps tendon that undermined him last year with the New York Jets.

Other sources say they believe Favre's ultimate recovery makes him a certainty to play for the Vikings, but the team will wrap up their organized team activities (OTAs) with four practices, Tuesday through Friday. The team also has two OTA dates remaining for the following week, but coach Brad Childress has traditionally canceled those as a reward for his players' hard work.

The Vikings report to training camp at the end of July and could agree to a contract if Favre's recovery accelerates to the point where both the quarterback and the team are comfortable with his return for the 2009 season, sources said.

1. Great news.
I have to believe, deep down, that the Vikings haven't truly found all possible ways to lose yet. With Favre's help, I'm sure they'll find some more new and exciting ways to fail.

2. Why is this idiot still playing football
Seriously, it's just ruining his career and turning him into a has-been.

4. Really
he's turning into a real drama queen. He needs to maintain his dignity and stay retired.

3. Anyway we can get all living great quarterbacks together
and get them to Favre's place to convince him not to come back.

I'm sure Joe Montana, Steve Young, Troy Aikman, Drew Bledsoe, Joe Theisman, Dan Marino, John Elway, Dan Deirdorff would LOVE the opportunity to talk Favre out of coming back.

7. You might want to exclude Troy Aikman from that group
I remember his angrily insisting last year that he was "asked to come back" by multiple teams, but he passed. Troy must think we're all stupid. He retired due to sustaining a significant number of concussions -- in other words, he was NEVER coming back, and he just had to get on the teevee and notify the NFL of his availability.

I sometimes wonder if any of those guys listen to themselves.

In the meantime, go ahead, Viqueens -- sign Favre. Every DE in the league will be gunning for him. Plus, you have Steve Hutchison, a man whose ego is so big already, I'm shocked there's any room left in the locker room for other players. :woohoo:

I don't really care for the Vikings one way or another, but on general principal I dislike Farve.

edited for clarity
