Mashups, Remixes, Sony Acid Pro
Anyone else enjoy making these? It's been loads of fun for me, I love it. Just making cool remixes to drive around and listen to.

Any other Sony Acid Pro fans out there? If so, what do you use it for?

1. I used it back before Sony got a hold of it.............
Edited on Fri Jun-05-09 05:14 PM by CrownPrinceBandar
when it was distributed Soundforge. I used to set up rhythm tracks to accompany practice runs and riffs on my guitar.

I haven't looked at it in a while. I'm sure Sony's charging and arm + leg.

2. Don't ya mean Cakewalk?
I thought that Acid Pro used to be "Cakewalk"... Soundforge is still Soundforge. It may have been made by "Sonic Foundry"

I'm having alot of fun with taking some rap acapellas and mixing them over all kids of rock, and electronic music like trip hop and breaks.

Acid Pro 7.0 is one of the most enjoyable programs I've ever played with.....

3. Husband still has soundforge, he's learning on a couple others too.
House (prog, deep; trance) and breaks dj for 10-11 years, been topless club dj for 18.
We have soundforge, atomix, and virtual dj. We can't afford the timecode records or serato yet.
He's done his mixes on atomix and virtual dj, but right now he doesn't have a lot of time for them.

6. I'll get them on this comp when he gets home from WV.
and link 'em up for ya..but I don't think he has much, he's only done a couple remixes himself lately. His main mixes are just showing off his transition skills from one 'regular" (read=dj _____ mix) to another so that he could get a gig spinning somewhere. We are trying to get money for keyboards, drum machine, etc. You know how it goes.

He says he has so many ideas kicking around in his head it hurts, lol. I'm always and forever asking him to remix 80s stuff.

We're also still on PCs, we haven't decided if we're making the transition to Mac for his laptop this year or not. He's so used to PC style that he's worried it's really going to mess up his on-the-fly style.

7. sounds pretty cool...

I actually do fine with a PC as opposed to a Mac. Acid Pro along with the program called "Reason" by Propellerheads Software is cool.. some people say it is a bit toy-ish but I find you can really do a lot with it. (sequencer. drum machine, sampler, synth, etc)

I know the feeling of having all those ideas kicking around.... I hope he keeps at it and gets a gig on the decks soon.

Speaking of 80's stuff.. I made a remix of "Land Down Under" by men at work.. :) I've actually got a bunch of remixes on my file hosting spot, if you wanna check them out, let me know.

9. Well....as far as DJs
I came up in the South Florida breakbeat scene in the mid-late 90's, so that is where my heart lies when it comes to electronic music. My vinyl collection from that era stands at around 500 pieces, so it'd be hard to pick a favorite, depends on my mood. You know how it is. Artists like Hybrid and Rabbit in the Moon stand out. (of course Baby Anne, Icey, Andy Hughes, etc which I had such good times listening to in the clubs in the 90's)

Anyway, here's a link to all my remixes...

Thanks for the link, we'll check it out as soon as he gets home.
Oh, and husband has pics of Rabbit from Ultra two years ago.. he couldn't go this past one since we were so broke. Great show, of course.

11. right on!!!

I actually got pix from the Rabbit show at this most recent Ultra, sorry you guys missed it.. (it was shortened actually, apparently because they started late, they were only up for like 25 minutes or so)... I've got about 10 Rabbit shows under my belt since I first discovered them around '95 or so.... I am a HUGE fan.

Haven't heard the new Icey, I'll have to check it out. Heard him play at Voodoo Lounge a few weeks ago and he tore the place down. Seems like he has stepped his game up quite a bit.

I've got some great pictures from recent RITM shows I'll put up....

12. I still use Soundforge 6.0 and Acid 4.0.
Love the compatability between the two. Open up an Acid track in Soundforge, do whatever sound editing you need to do on JUST that track, put it back into Acid.

Mostly I used Acid to record multi-track stuff, then did all the sound work in Soundforge, and then brought it back to Acid for tweaking and layering and whatnot.

13. I agree...
The synergy between Sound Forge and Acid is awesome.. I swear by it.

Some the newer versions of Acid Pro have a lot of the capabilities that Sound Forge has (though sometimes they work in different ways) so lately I am able to use Acid Pro 7.0 almost exclusive for everything I need.
