9. When I was a wee Dogtowner

in the days of yore, I'd go to the Municipal Zoo often. It was a really nice zoo, for the time, and there was no fee.

"For the time"... They had open cages for the large primates and people would throw gum or lit cigarettes into the cages. I never saw gum in anyone's fur, but they would chew it and smoke the cigarettes.

Even at 9, I hated seeing those fine gorillas lounging around smoking, the crowd laughing at them...
