I liked it better when Mars had canals.

Ya gotta admit, some great science fiction stories came from that concept. Heinlein was in his heyday. I was very disappointed when the canals went away.

Damned reality...

(Back in the day the atom was a hell of a lot simpler to explain, too...)

1. Wait...what!?!
You mean those aren't canals?!?

Crap...that means I got hosed on that Martian canal-front property deal...and it was such a good price too. :(

3. If it's too good to be true, it's probably science fiction.
Such is life... :headbang:

4. Damned straight.
I'd MUCH rather have a gigantic blob of congealed moo floating above my head.

I suppose next you'll be telling me those "Gas Giants" are not in fact, loaded with petroleum...*sigh*

6. The plum-pudding atom always made me hungry. But what I really miss is the flat earth.
The flat earth was easier to walk on. I don't know who had the idea to try to make it into a sphere, but it was a bad idea. We learned in high school that you can't make a sphere from a flat piece of paper without wrinkling it. So when the flat earth became spherical, it got all crinkly: that's why we have mountains now. Mountains are okay for people that like them, I guess, but I think they get in the way of the scenery and are hard to walk on
