Shocker --NOT
Mayo called. They STILL do not have authorization to send out my interferon. Which means I won't get it this week likely. Which means I get to miss my weekly dose. Fucking CIGNA.x(

2. Well hopefully nothing more
than increasing symptoms as my platelets rise again...headaches, fatigue, numbness tingling and hands and feet, lightheadedness. Upleasant to be sure but not really life threatening unless I go for several weeks without...and then I'll have to readjust to the meds again (side effects ect.) A real PITA....I've had to go without for over a month last time I fought with them..:(

4. Unless I want to shell out
$2800 myself...No. I just have to wait. Mayo is doing its best but the bean counters at CIGNA want to go through and see if they can find ANY reason to reject this. (they won't but this is a game they have to play since as a chronically ill person I cost em big bucks)

I swear, when my Mom died it was the fucking medical bureaucracy that wore her out and kept her from recovering. I mean you are sick and suffering and you have to work harder than real labor to get fucking treatment.

Sometimes having no insurance is a hidden blessing because there is no game to play. I don't know. This has got to be fixed. It is my biggest "issue" after the war crimes.

5. Sometimes the patient can get a faster resolution than the MD
Edited on Fri May-29-09 08:00 AM by LaurenG
It's not just Cigna, we fight everyday with some insurance company because the medication we are trying to prescribe is not on the insurance companies formulary, they make us prove the patient needs the medication. The process to get adequate (not good) care is very frustrating, it boils down to the insurance company practicing medicine in some cases instead of the doctor. Sometimes they will listen to the insured though especially if their HR dept gets involved.

Around here on good days we call it overmanaged care.
Best wishes to you and your provider.

edited to fix bold

7. Gosh isn't our private insurance system wonderful?
Why would we want to threaten this with something like single payer? :sarcasm:

I hope you get this resolved today.

8. Thanks. I firmly believe that those who oppose single payer
either A) are too rich for medical costs to really matter or B) Healthy and have very little interaction with insurance companies.
