So there I am, chasing a drifter through my basement, naked except for a hockey mask, and wielding
a halberd.

Oh, my crazy weekends!

5. A halberd? Man, that's some old-school shit right there.
I'm more of a modernist, I much prefer the pickaxe or the chainsaw myself.

11. A pickaxe is modern?
I see "modern" as something involving either projectiles (except for crossbows) or electric motors.

12. You can't buy a halberd at Home Depot.
Unless you've got a much better Home Depot than the ones I've got around here.

13. No, but I get most of my hardware at Fireblood Armory.
It's just more satisfying that way.

15. I once had a blacksmith tell me....
"How many people can honestly say to you, 'This isn't the first time I've been on fire, and it won't be the last'?"

27. Unfortunately, we don't even have a Home Depot where I live and
Lowe's doesn't carry a halberd either. I wish it did. I'd love to have one. I could sure use it. :P

8. How tall are your basement ceilings?
I'd think that the halberd would get stuck in the ceiling tiles and/or joists, but maybe that's just me.

A rusty one.

20. I prefer the reach I get from a halberd.
Though I'm not against using a lochaber axe if circumstances warrant.

22. I prefer it up close and personal.
Otherwise, the experience is...diminished.

When one can see the light going out of their eyes, the sharp snap made by steel on bone and sinew, the final exhalation of damp breath caresses your cheek as their spirit leaves this mortal plane...ahhh, now there's a good time had by all!

I was born in the wrong century. My berserker ancestors knew what a good time was, laddie!

That's what happens with Norman ancestry, I guess.

24. No way to savor the moment.
I guess that's the difference from taking the approach of being ruthlessly efficient, or looking upon one's work as an individual work of art.

Sigh.

So much is lost in the name of 'productivity'. Is there no room for artistry, anymore?

Do you at least take time to listen to the screams?

I mean, c'mon!

But I would never go so far as mental masturbation. Cheapens the kill, IMO.

26. Well, of course. That's a given.
But take time to smell the mayhem. Drink in the ambiance.

You won't regret the time spent savoring the moment.
