1. If I were single and they were hot.
It's my phone number, not my social security number. Worst case scenario, they're a total freak and I have to get my number changed.

6. It depends on what they're buying...
I meet women in the grocery all the time.

Personal experience: If they're buying red meat, Velveeta or hot dogs, it's not going to work out. I can't respect me or you in the morning.

7. If there was mutual attraction and he asked for it, probably.
But probably only with my first name. Unless it's a land line or he's a gifted hacker, he won't be able to find where you live. And maybe you'd get a true love or a good friend. You could find a total asshole, but few among the overall asshole population are outright murdering rapists. If I had a good gut feeling, and I wasn't drunk, I'd definitely do it.

9. No. If the "instant vibe" was that good, there'd be no need for phone numbers.
My ex-sweetie and I were together for 9 years and a week.

We were at my place 4 hours after we met,
and then we woke up, had breakfast,
and drove 30 minutes to HER place
where we spent 48 hours with the doors locked.

She was driving me to work Monday morning
when she tentatively asked me if I wanted to know
what her name was.

It was a week or two after that before we exchanged phone numbers.

So, to answer your question: NO.
NEVER give your phone number to anyone you don't know!

15. I say go for it--its just a phone #--not an address etc
and hope this turns into something wonderful for you; you never know...On an only slightly related subject, I hope my PM's didn't weird you out, re: your friend on the Res in Arizona. I only put in that much info about myself to let you and her know that I'm who I said I was, as a semi-public person out here ( I believe you can't be too careful these days, even though I think its great you gave this guy your #), and also realize that in retrospect my lame little joke about being "only a small -scale weirdo etc" was just that; lame, and probably inappropriate...and so I apologize for that......abq e streeter:hi:

16. Yes.
What's different about doing that in a grocery store as opposed to a bar? If I were fortunate enough to have lightening strike like that yes, in a nanosecond. Then again being a guy and giving out phone numbers doesn't always yield the greatest success.
