:wow:
Impressive, how the technology has developed. (it's not much different than static CGI, or scene-sync (developed by a private company for the BBC around 1980), except it's all computer models instead of a physical model keyed by multiple cameras to match the actors' perspective... as long as the computer models have the same perspective and lighting, and enough money is put in for proper rendering, it can be difficult to fool the viewer. (even then, there are still things one can look out for, but it is a very cost-effective solution and, when done right, supersedes old-sk00l model work.)
Given how many re-tellings of dug-up shows have failed, to say that I am looking forward to "V" is nothing less than the understatement of the century. Especially as the clips don't say much, but what they do say seems like something nasty aliens would do to infiltrate society. I mean, Reagan got (and still gets) a free pass, despite scores of web sites pointing out flaw after flaw after scandal he was related to (directly or indirectly).
Kenneth Johnson's original miniseries was fantastic; the followup "The Final Battle" being more action-oriented with a plot you don't want to analyze. I'll pretend the 1985 TV series (19 episodes plus an alternative of episode 2) never existed.
Kenneth also wrote a follow-up book a few years ago based on the continuity he wanted. I have yet to read it.
If they keep Kenneth's original vision alive, then they have a winner. If it's going to be campy/all-action-and-no-plot/topical-suggesting (the article with the clips mentions President Obama, by his initials - which seem unflattering in a certain light). Never mind that people were seeing McCain/Palin with the same trepidation that article puts Obama as.
