"Do you find yourself day-dreaming at work? You realise that you have wondered away from what you are supposed to be doing and the daydream has taken over. Perhaps someone noticed!

Many years ago I was involved in the programming environment supporting complex systems. From time to time there would be a bug - the system would crash or produce incorrect results. Hours of concentration and attempting to logically debug or find the source of the problem sometimes proved fruitless.

The best solution was often to actually get away from the problem. Getting lost in a daydream or an evening out often provided the answer. Returning to the issue later or the next morning generally resulted in identifying a quick solution to the problem.

Research has shown that when we are daydreaming our brains are incredibly active in the problem solving areas. Without the intervention of our conscious minds, the brain goes ahead and uses its immense power to solve all sorts of problems.

......SNIP"

1. I recently lost a job because i was day dreaming when I was locking up. This makes
me feel a little bit better. I was solving a complex problem. I should have said that to my bosses and maybe they would have let me stay LOL!

3. Well, I've been having some pretty intense daydreams lately, and I will say that they
have been very good for me.
