3. The real point is to see if steroids has changed anyones opinion of Rose
Earlier, charlie and algernon started this thread:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x8755622

in it, he asked which, among many of the Steroid Era players, would make it to the HOF.

So I thought I'd put Pete head to head with one of the worst offenders of the Steroid Era to see if anyone had strong feelings one way or another. So far, it seems not.

9. That's a very valid point
It now seems like "everyone is doing it." With the latest revelation on Man Ram, it seems like everyone is still doing it.

12. It's really a shame for a guy like Ryan Howard

who, as far as we know, is the real deal in a pure package, but may be remembered as a great slugger who played "in the steroid era."

13. Another player mentioned in that same way is Craig Biggio
..again, as far as anyone knows - clean. OTOH, how can you tell if anyone is clean now?

10. I was listening to Ken Burns being interviewed on the Marlins radio broadcast
Documentarian Ken Burns was plugging his upcoming PBS series on the National Parks and talking about doing supplementary work for the "Baseball" documentary. He pretty much made that exact point: todays issues are the issues of 100 years ago in the game, namely "cheating" and "money". The substances or issues may have changed -- maybe it was "greenies" in the 50s versus "performance enhancing substances" now, but the overall concept is the same.
