Anyone with young kids - do they still say the pledge of allegiance?

Do they still require kids to recite the pledge? Everyday? At what age does it start?

1. No kids, but I aided at the local elementary school

and yes, every day, every one, first thing in the morning over the address system.

2. I'd watched "The Golden Girls" a couple days ago; Rose went back to get her GED...

Dorothy was the teacher (given that's her profession and all; this is also what adds flexibility to ensemble comedy shows).

It was a really nice moment when Dorothy started class and Rose asked if Dorothy had forgotten something, and then she started reciting the Pledge. Everyone else chimed in.

I liked that scene.

3. Yes, even in our Pre Kindergarten

4. We say it in high school. We also have a moment of silence immediately following the pledge.

Very few students actually recite the pledge though my collaborative teacher and I do. Very few of them take advantage of the moment of silence to get in touch with their higher power either.

7. We do in our schools, too.

One of the students leads the Pledge over the PA system, followed by a moment of silence, then joke (or fact) for the day.

It's cute... they always say, "I pledge of allegiance to the flag..."

9. when i was in high school (graduated in 03)

we did it every monday morning. This of course really meant that we all stood quietly then sat down again, because no one gave a shit usually the teachers didn't do it either

10. They still do. It's illegal to force children to say it - it's considered mandated speech.

My daughter graduated in the early 90's and they were saying it then.
