Who else got paid to watch a movie today?
As part of our management "retreat" we got to watch a full-length, feature movie. The topic of the day was enhancing our critical thinking, so as a demonstration of both good and bad, we watched "Apollo 13".

We even had popcorn. :)

Then we went to dinner and the boss paid, including one drink. :thumbsup.

1. Years ago we were paid to watch "12 O'Clock High".
Our CEO felt it was the ultimate management training film.

6. Both movies are about flight
I wonder what the significance of that is?

Frankly, I can't remember why it was such great management training but I do recall thinking it made sense at the time.

4. Oh, yeah, "Apollo 13," schools and businesses love to show
that one because of the "teamwork" theme or at least that's what they said in high school. It's an okay movie, though.

7. It's actually a subject that I enjoy.
So, I really enjoyed watching it again.

5. Does a mid-1990's instructional video on how to properly ride a John Deere Gator count?
If so, then yes. Not today.

9. The lower ranks get "Apollo 13" for teamwork; upper management get Star Wars III to study Palpatine.

"You guys - you, the ones on the bottom. It's all about teamwork. Gotta be a team player. Think of the company as your team, and you're on the players! And you guys - the few of us on the top - it's all about singular vision and intense focus and the will to achieve what YOU want, no matter the ethics or morals, and screw everyone else. In fact, don't just screw 'em - if you can eliminate 'em, that's even better. Rule with an iron hand and fear and use of the Dark Side, and laugh at teamwork!"

12. That was last year...
My office at the time had a summer fun day for everyone. Bowling, laser tag and video arcade all in one.

13. I get to go bowling
about twice a month. The arcade is once a month. Minigolf, golf, and concerts are only a few times a year each.
